Photography Business Plan – Business Foundation Platform

I was flipping through an old book of CDs the other day, and I stumbled across the original business plan that I wrote waaay-back-when. I popped it into my cd drive (good thing I still have one of those kickin’ around!) and spent ten minutes reading through it.

What an incredible resource it is! I wrote 4859 words about how I would start and run my photography business. Almost 14 years later, I’m still in business, so it must have been a good exercise!

If you’re writing your own plan, you’ll have to check out numburu.

Before you continue though, let me take a second to put my plan into perspective…

When I wrote it, I was pretty fresh out of college. I had just graduated from photography school at Fanshawe College and had been working for photographers on and off since high school. I had a full-time gig at a camera store and was determined to “be a photographer”. My friend Heather (Image Obscura) from photo school was just as determined as I was, so together we each wrote our plans in about a year.

This business plan certainly wouldn’t win me any awards in the writing department – but it did qualify me for a government grant that helped me start my business.

So what are you waiting for? Sign up for numburu…get my entire business plan in the business plan section and then start working on your numbers for your sustainable photography business!
